Here's what you missed at our last Chapter Meeting on Oct 27: Open Source Maker Labs
Speaker Dan Hendricks, OSML President
Open Source Maker Labs is a high-tech digital fabrication lab, where members can learn, collaborate, innovate, design, and build almost anything! Makers of all ages and skill levels have access to a wide range of tools, equipment, resources, and workspace. OSML also provides an open environment where our members can gain inspiration and skills from each other. Tour the facility and hear about the successes of its members, sponsored teams, and events which expands knowledge and skills of elementary, high school and college students. See a video about how UC San Diego's Students for the Exploration and Development (SEDS) built a 3-D printed engine powered by liquid oxygen and kerosene for a 20 ft. rocket. OSML has been hosting the high school Top Hat Technicians since 2013, and the elementary Red Belt Robots since 2015. OSML has fostered some great collaborations between the high school and elementary teams, allowing the younger Makers to learn "gracious professionalism," and the Top Hats to gain experience as mentors and role models.
